Dermal Fillers

Pre-treatment:

2 weeks before treatment:

  • Stop taking all blood thinning supplements and  medications. Some of these may include St. John’s  Wort, Fish Oil/Omega 3, Flax Seed Oil, and Vitamin E.  These supplements may increase bruising and  bleeding at the injection site.
  • Please advise us if you have a history of cold sores  prior to treatment. Treatment cannot be done if you  have an active cold sore or skin infection in the area.  We can advise preventative treatment.

2 days before treatment:

  • Stop taking aspirin, disprin and any anti inflammatory medications as these will increase the  chance of bruising and swelling.
  • Bruising can occur in some patients and can last 5-14  days so please plan your events accordingly.

Post-treatment:

  • It is normal for the area treated to feel tender,  swollen and red for 24-48 hours post treatment.
  • Swelling usually dissipates within 48 hours. You can  continue using a cold compress -not direct ice, 5  minutes every hour for up to 4 hours. Repeat in the  next day if necessary.
  • It may appear as though the area looks uneven after  treatment. This is due to the initial swelling and  bruising and will settle as the area heals.
  • Hirudoid cream may help to reduce bruising and  swelling.
  • You can gently apply mineral makeup using a  sanitised brush where required.
  • Please contact us should you have any queries or  questions following your treatment.
